  • 5 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Screen Repair Contractor in Southwest Florida

Between storm season, general wear, and the sheer number of pool cages and lanais in this part of Florida, there’s no shortage of companies offering screen repair. Not all of them are equally reliable. Here are five questions worth asking before you commit to anyone.

1. Are you licensed and insured, and can you show documentation? This should be an immediate, confident “yes,” with a license number they can give you on the spot. If a contractor hesitates or can’t produce it, that’s a real red flag. It also means you have no recourse if something goes wrong on your property during the job.

2. Will you do a single-panel repair, or only full rescreens? As covered in a previous post, some companies steer every job toward a full rescreen regardless of what you actually need. Ask directly, and be wary of a company that won’t quote a smaller job at all.

3. What’s included in your quote, and what could change it? A trustworthy contractor tells you upfront what’s covered and what might cause the price to shift once they’re on-site (unexpected frame damage, for example), and commits to calling you before, not after, making any changes.

4. Do you handle HOA documentation, or is that entirely on me? If you live in a community with an HOA, this can save you real time and hassle. A contractor experienced in your area has likely already navigated your association’s requirements before.

5. What’s your timeline, realistically, not optimistically? Ask how long the job will actually take, and ask what could extend it. A contractor who gives you an overly optimistic answer just to win the job is more likely to leave you waiting later.

If a company answers all five clearly and confidently, that’s a strong sign. If they dodge more than one, it’s worth getting a second opinion before you sign anything. We’re happy to answer every one of these directly during a free estimate, no pressure, no vague numbers.
