Getting quotes from multiple screen repair companies can feel like a part-time job. Some won’t call back. Some show up without any real process. Some hand you a number that later turns into a very different number once the work starts. If you’ve been burned by a vague quote before, here’s what a real, honest estimate should look like, and what to ask if it doesn’t.
What we do during an estimate: we look at the actual condition of your existing screens and frame, not just a general age assumption. We measure precisely rather than eyeballing square footage. We ask what’s bothering you about the current setup (a specific tear, general wear, storm prep) so the quote actually addresses your priority instead of a generic package. And we give you one number in writing, not a range that gets “finalized” once the crew is already on site.
Questions worth asking any contractor who comes to quote your project:
- Are you licensed and insured, and can I see documentation?
- What happens if you find additional damage once you start? Do I get a call before costs change, or after?
- Do you use poly screen, or the industry-standard fiberglass?
- What’s your workmanship guarantee?
A contractor who hedges on any of these, or who can’t give you a straight answer about what’s included, is worth a second opinion before you commit. We’re a licensed Florida contractor (SCC131153376), and we’d rather answer every one of these questions clearly at the estimate than have you find out the hard way later.
